Easter Egg Hunt at Sue Bonner’s Apartment Complex

· Sue Bonner was a Peace Corps Volunteer providing support in the Education Sector in Toledo. She helped at the Big Falls RC School, other nearby schools and the Toledo District Education Center (where my late Aunt, Wilma Coleman was working). Sue rented an apartment from the Aleman’s here in Big Falls whenever she came to conduct volunteer efforts.

· Sue immediately bond with many families…

And now, The Official Interview with Kenrick Mark Coleman!

1. Tell us about yourself. Where did you grow up? What was your family like? What three words best describe you? Why?

The interesting thing about this question is that it will always have me thinking exactly, “Who am I or what can I say about myself?”, as I am constantly changing…

A Childhood Christmas Gift to Remember

· I believe it was Christmas 1998 or 1999 when my dad took my two brothers and I to the late Peter Aleman’s General Store to choose our Christmas gifts. Actually, he found presents for a few of our other family members (Coleman and Jacobs).

· My two brothers opted for toys and other gadgets. I think the price range for those was between $40-$60.

· Growing up…

Morning Journeys on Mr. Ack’s Truck

· I believe it was in 1992 and 1993 when my Mom, Dad, my older brother and I travelled to Punta Gorda on Saturday mornings. I remember helping my Mom sweeping the house from Friday night. She also cleaned the kitchen and other sections of our small two — storey wooden house with zinc roofing. My dad also did some cleaning at the shed at the back of…

Letter from Kenrick Mark

Dear Esteemed Readers,

I was really worn out from my Saturday trip. I slept until late on Sunday morning, and felt all sluggish the entire day. I woke up, relaxed in bed, and opened my windows for refreshing air. I checked my emails, and relative communication platforms. I created my first LinkedIn account and profile that day. Our Professors Mark and Mudra related the importance of this professional platform for us as current postgraduate candidates (then) and of course, the utilization of the platform for networking, talent development, communication and leadership, et al. I started with…

Evening Journeys to Punta Gorda

· I remember with utmost love the years of 1996–2002. My family travelled most evenings to Punta Gorda Town to purchase Boledo tickets from Brads. Actually, my dad took all of us in our very meek beige colored Toyota pickup, with the name ‘Coleman’s Cafe’ on the driver’s side door. I was always happy for the evening journeys!

· In those days, it was very peaceful, and somewhat old…

Letter from Kenrick Mark

Dear Esteemed Readers,

I woke up around 9am on Saturday. I felt really cold from midnight until mid-morning. I knew it was snowing again (lightly, perhaps). Even though I had two blankets (I bought a second one from an Indian Home Appliance Store at the Mall in Lewisham), I still felt very cold and restless during the pre-dawn hours. I had to get out of bed, un-plug the heater, and re-plug so the room could have gotten heated (at least two times). The heater usually ‘tripped out’ after an hour, and the temperature in the room…

Letter from Kenrick Mark

Dear Esteemed Readers,

It was Friday, December 11th! I woke up around 8am, and relaxed in bed. I checked emails, social media, and did some work for my foundation. Well, I started the night before. I have a Personality of the Month Award program, which recognizes hardworking, talented, intelligent and deserving young Belizeans. I also conduct Interview Features (Holistic Conversations) with good, hardworking Belizeans, sharing life stories of struggles, triumphs, journeys, et al. Even though I was entirely occupied with post graduate level academics and research, I usually communicated on a daily/weekly basis with comrades of…

Letter from Kenrick Mark

Dear Esteemed Readers,

I woke up late on Thursday, around 830am. I relaxed in bed. I was in high spirits, exclusively. I was eager to use my holiday time to explore London and the UK, to relish new pursuits, to meet celebrities and good people (students, Public Relations executives, British elders), and indulge in new cuisines and desserts (from across Europe and beyond). I was also worried about my academic section. Professor Mark told my classmates and I to read articles and academic papers to become familiar with the topic we will choose for our Research…

Letter from Kenrick Mark

Dear Esteemed Readers,

It was our final session for Foundations of Public Relations and Corporate Communications, for this semester. This was the only class which continued into the second semester. From September to December, 2015, this was the most intricate, enduring course. While I learnt oodles, I always had to review (sometimes more than twice) the PowerPoint presentations, articles, discussion papers, et al to fully understand.

I woke up early, relaxed for a bit, and watched BBC news. I also checked emails and social media. I remember meeting some very good, hardworking Belizeans via social media…
