Dear Esteemed Readers,
On Wednesday morning, I woke up around 6am. I spent 2 hours reading some required papers for the day’s class — Foundations of Public Relations & Corporate Communications. I seemed to have inspiration in this impromptu decision to get my readings covered before I attended class. Every half hour, I took a 10 minute break and watched BBC News LIVE. Our university probably paid for subscription, as I had access to the programs. I loved the BBC news, and the accents of the anchors and reports. The British accent resonated and called to me. It is my hope to have a TV Show or work at the BBC one day soon.
Actually, we had a final presentation for this class next Wednesday. Ervin, Georgia and I were in a group, and we had to do extensive research, critical analysis and a presentation PowerPoint to discuss our findings. I had difficulty in some sections, but ended up passing this presentation. It wasn’t a high mark, but I found my short comings and improved on it. The three of us met a few times to discuss our work’s progress, and then did our individual parts.
I quickly showered around 845am, got dressed and walked to university. It was Wednesday, and there were many people going around the Greenwich area. I took a bag of snacks with me including granola bars, water, chocolate, potato crisps, chocolate muffins, pancakes (I bought from Iceland), and apples. I tried blueberry muffins once, as I saw them on TV before. I didn’t like the taste though. I arrived at university, and relaxed in the lounge near my class. Two of my classmates arrived before me, and were on their computers, reading too.
Professor Christian headed the discussions for this class. He began by introducing several current events in Europe, and asked for our perspectives as Public Relations candidate. It was a very lively discussion of the hour. The major topic discussed was reputation. We spoke about Edelman’s PR firm and their research on building a reputation risk management capability. Sub-topics included the reputation management system, processes of building reputation, reputation dynamics, and people and mindsets. It was a full fledged class again! Our Wednesday classes were always more complex, yet we gained a wealth of knowledge on Public Relations foundations, high-powered perspectives, and dynamic examples and illustrations. We did had a mid-break, and I had a muffin and checked my social media.
I went to the library in the afternoon (after class, actually). I kept focused on my critical analysis paper for Foundations of Scholarship. Before I started this final project, I was procrastinating. However, as I gained motivation to start in early November, I felt energized to keep going, and doing my utmost best. I took breaks every hour, walking outside for fresh air, and just to indulge in the ‘real’ life — looking around! I went home around 9pm. I was making good progress on this paper!
I stopped at McDonalds and got my usual and favorite — 2 chicken sandwiches, 2 portion of fries, and 1 milkshake. I went to my room, watched cooking shows, and enjoyed my meal.
I’m quite exhausted for tonight. I will continue my journey in a next edition of Letter from Kenrick Mark.
