Letter from Kenrick Mark

Dear Esteemed Readers,

I woke up around 630am on Sunday, and it was super cold! I relaxed and began checking my emails, and social media messages. I had to go to the library to read, and do more research and assignments. I showered and had breakfast a little while after. I made Quaker Oatmeal, in the microwave. It was so warm and delicious. I usually had Maple and Brown Sugar or Cinnamon and Apple, with milk.

I walked over to library around 8am. The streets were already abuzz with activities. The flea market next door our huge library had a few customers. Most of the vendors were setting up their items and displays. This was a very vintage, very pro-European, and I loved the ambience! The vendors were friendly. I walked into library, and had to walk through the entry machines, using my ID card. I went to the first floor near the PR books section. I turned on a workstation, and opened my portal. I began to do readings for my classes. I also had a Sainsbury orange-colored bag of snacks — potato chips, granola, chocolate muffins, chocolates, oatmeal cookies, and of course, a huge bottle of water! I took breaks every hour (for about 10 mins) to have a snack, or walk around in the various library levels, or even to talk a walk outside. There was a completely different atmosphere in the building compared to outside. I believe the building was sound proof, as it was very peaceful, and warm inside. The outside was more boisterous — the people passing and talking, the trucks honking, the cars zooming by.

I also had a presentation for our Wednesday class — Public Relations Foundations and Corporate Communications. I had an intricate time understanding my responsibility in this second formal graded presentation. It was a group presentation between Ervin, Georgia and I. I read several papers, and book chapters, to develop an understanding of the involved theories. I also had to draft a presentation analysis and then coordinate a final write up with my group members. We had a few meetings, both online and in person. The presentation was due in early December. I started my section of the presentation.

I spent my entire day in the library — reading articles, book chapters, relative papers, and of course, touring around the library during my breaks. I especially loved the elevator rides (free taxi service from one level to another). After about 7pm, I decided to go home.

I walked home in a nippy, dazzlingly lit evening, with crowds of people — British, Asian, African, American. I heard so many different languages as I walked passed different individuals (smile). I wish I could speak another language. I always saw a few people I knew who lived around the Greenwich area. I could smell the fish and chips from the outlet nearby. I could smell the wide variety of foods cooking in the kitchen at the Mexican restaurant in the corner. It called (smiles). I went home, dropped off my laptop, school bag, and some books. I went back out for a little walk, and eventually spent some time relaxing in the Cutty Sark Area. I was also inquisitive to know if any other Belizeans lived around in the various apartments. In my perspective, there was a possibility. I always saw people who resemble Belizeans back home. I loved relaxing and just observing others going by. Many families were walking, talking, enjoying the night. Some younger individuals were eating burgers and fast food near me. They were speaking Spanish.

I walked back after about an hour. I stopped at McDonalds and purchased two chicken sandwiches, two portion of French fries, and a milkshake. I went home, watched a movie and enjoyed my dinner.

I also spoke to a few of my comrades via email and social media.

I fell asleep later on.

I’m quite exhausted for tonight. I will continue my journey in a next edition of Letter from Kenrick Mark.

Sincerely yours,

Kenrick Mark
