Letter from Kenrick Mark (65th Edition)
Letter from Kenrick Mark
Dear Esteemed Readers,
It was Friday, December 4th! I woke up late, around 830am. I relaxed in bed for a while, while checking my email and social media messages. I usually get emails and messages from my comrades in Belize, and around the world, both personal and professional endeavors. As a Master of Arts in Public Relations candidate (then), I learnt the craft of content and message development. I practiced this daily as I replied to emails, having conversations on social media, and conducting my foundation’s work. I ensured that messages are illuminating, sprightly, and integrated yet cordial. We had numerous sessions at the University of Greenwich, where Professors Mark, Christian, Roger, Caron, and Mudra delivered presentations on concepts of writing and content development. We also had unlimited resources in the library to educate ourselves on a diversity of segments in this specific field. I love writing, and of course, learning new methods which assist my skills.
I took a shower around 930am, and walked over to my favorite coffee shop — Alacosta Coffee! I saw the janitors outside my room. They were cleaning the hallway and the kitchen. I believe they clean (sweep, mop, throw garbage away) every Friday mornings. The Greenwich High Street, Cutty Sark Ship arena, University of Greenwich campus, and historical sites were already crowded with tourists, and of course, those who live in the surrounding areas (but were out on a stroll or for business). The Marks and Spencer shop was super busy with customers. I loved the freshly baked breads, cookies and pastries at M & S. Actually, I bought white chocolate chip cookies and double chocolate chip cookies often.
As I walked through our university campus, there were many tourists around, enjoying the views, exploring the historical areas/venues, and capturing moments on camera (photos/videos). I walked down Trafalgar road. Every time I visited Alacosta Coffee (even if the owners were busy) they ensured that I was welcomed with love! The guy (owner) prepared my Coffee Mocha, and I ordered 4 toasts with butter, eggs and bacon! His wife always do an amazing job, preparing my breakfast, brunch or lunch!!! They were both very genuine, loving and caring for all their customers. It called, and it brought in new customers (through word of mouth ‘advertising’), and returning customers (for the excellent hospitality, food and drinks). After breakfast, I relaxed, and read a newspaper. I was always curious to know what was happening in the city!
I walked back home. Actually, I went to the Greenwich Market on my way back. There were many stalls, and the market was huge, with entrances from all directions. I glanced at the booths making foods and snacks. I saw mini pancakes with various customized toppings, smoothies, Indian food, Asian food, Portuguese food, and Spanish food. I also browsed the displays of artwork, souvenirs, photos, hand-made jewelry and other memorabilia on sale. I had a wonderful time, exploring the market again. I noticed a few new booths. At one of the other entrances, there were more food booths, and I noticed a Caribbean booth selling Jerk Chicken, and other Jamaican and Caribbean food. I never tried their food, though. The booth always had long queues.
I walked over to Sainsbury and purchased a few essential items such as water, bread, and some Cadbury chocolate. I saw many kids with their parents shopping at Sainsbury. The products were amazing and prices were just (my perspective).
In the afternoon, I went to the library, to do reading, and more research. I stayed there until late in the night.
I went home around 930pm. The street was very bubbly and bright with joyous activities at the restaurants and pubs.
I took a shower and went to sleep.
I’m quite exhausted for tonight. I will continue my journey in a next edition of Letter from Kenrick Mark.
Sincerely yours,
Kenrick Mark
