REMARKS from the Founder/Chairman, Kenrick Mark Coleman

Warm Greetings from the Toledo District!

When I delivered my Salutatory Address to Julian Cho Technical High School’s Class of 2006, I focused on the following key points:

· ‘Today is a day of celebration’ — We collectively acknowledge the hard work and discipline of years of holistic academic growth. Graduation day is a occasion to celebrate us and engender new pathways of excellence. We are all outstanding graduates.

· ‘We will face new struggles’ — Life’s journey is unique, beautiful and difficult. Embrace your challenges and aspire them into opportunities. Deliver those opportunities into success for self, family, and community. We are all vibrant and strong Belizeans.

· ‘But we must not keep this graduation as the highest of our aspirations, we should not stay where we are, we should not aim so low.’ — Go on. Find your passion now. Live a beautiful, cordial life. You only win when you find your passion. Make a positive impact for Earth! Do it for Earth. ‘LIVE THE ESSENCE OF LIFE’ We are all important citizens of Earth.

· ‘We should all aspire to work with the members of our society to achieve a common goal, to be a Society of Good People.’ — Tolerance, Discipline, Respect, Understanding and Appreciation are pillars of HUMANITY and COMPASSION. Be supportive for your brothers and sisters of Earth. Understand their struggles. Appreciate their unique abilities. Give back to community. We are all human beings.

· ‘Education must be reconceived as a continuous growth of the mind and a better understanding of life.’ — Education needs to be holistic. Utilize your intelligence. Become Well-Cultured. We are all Leaders.

These key points emphasize the importance of holistic development for us, young people, as we prepare to build our career portfolio, and ‘LIVE THE ESSENCE OF LIFE’.

Daril Avila, an upcoming, outstanding young Belizean volleyball player, recently said: ‘I would always tell anyone I come in contact with “Focus. Different. Inspire”. Always remain focus on what it is that you’re doing and where you’re heading as well as to never lose sight of the importance of being different. No one who lives to tell a great story followed the crowd all the way, with that, be sure to always leave an occasion or location better than you found it; positive words are always better than pocket money.’

Purpose of Program:

In June, 2006, I graduated as the Salutatorian of Julian Cho Technical High School. I wished, then, that I could have met the many honor graduates from the Class of 2006, to discuss our accomplishments and aspirations as we prepared to become leaders in our respective fields of endeavor.

In 2008, under the auspice of the Teens Belize Organization, the Graduation Recognition program was established to celebrate, to engage, and to unite our graduates! Graduation Recognition has been nurtured and is now the essence of intelligence and discipline of positive young Belizeans.
